The Idaho State Bengals bring Big Sky football to Pocatello, playing their home games inside the domed Holt Arena (now the ICCU Dome) on the Idaho State campus. Built on decades of Big Sky tradition, the Bengals have carved out a reputation as a scrappy, well-coached FCS program with championship roots from the program's golden era in the early 1980s.
Idaho State began playing football in 1902 and became a charter member of the Big Sky Conference in 1963. The program's signature achievement came in 1981, when the Bengals went 12-1 and won the NCAA Division I-AA national championship, defeating Eastern Kentucky in the title game. Idaho State has claimed eight conference championships across its history.
