Northern Colorado Bears

The Northern Colorado Bears compete in Big Sky football out of Greeley, Colorado, representing a program with deep regional roots and a scrappy underdog identity. Having climbed through multiple levels of competition over the decades, the Bears bring a blue-collar approach to FCS football.

Northern Colorado fielded its first football team in 1893, not long after the university itself was founded as a teacher's college. The Bears won back-to-back NCAA Division II national championships in 1996 and 1997 before moving up to Division I in 2004 and later joining the Big Sky Conference.
