Merrimack College's Warriors have made a rapid climb from Division II to Division I FCS football, now playing as an independent out of North Andover, Massachusetts. The Augustinian college's program is one of college football's newer stories, transitioning levels within a single decade.
Merrimack fielded its first football team in 1996 and joined the Northeast-10 Conference in 2001, winning a share of the NE-10 title in 2006, the program's first championship. The Warriors moved up to Division I FCS in 2019, joining the Northeast Conference before becoming an FCS independent when the conference dropped football.
