Liberty Flames

The Liberty Flames play their home games at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Virginia, representing one of the fastest-rising football programs in the country's Group of Five ranks. Built around a rapidly growing university, the Flames climbed from NAIA and FCS obscurity to an ascendant FBS Conference USA member, known for aggressive recruiting and rapid facility growth.

Liberty's football program was founded in 1973, originally as an NAIA team, before climbing through Division II and FCS ranks and reaching the FBS level in 2018. The Flames became a full member of Conference USA for the 2023-24 season after a stint as an FBS independent, a period that included Liberty's first-ever New Year's Six bowl appearance in the 2023 Fiesta Bowl.
