Charleston Southern Buccaneers

The Charleston Southern Buccaneers compete in FCS football out of North Charleston, South Carolina, a program built on steady Big South Conference success. The Buccaneers bring a scrappy, disciplined identity befitting a mid-major Baptist university with a proud small-school football tradition.

Charleston Southern fielded its first football team in 1991 and moved up to Division I-AA (now FCS) just two years later. As a charter member of the Big South Conference from 2002, the Buccaneers won three conference championships, in 2005, 2015, and 2016, and made multiple FCS playoff appearances as the league's automatic qualifier.
