Paraguay, La Albirroja, are renowned for their fierce defensive resolve, fighting spirit, and never-say-die attitude. Backed by passionate support and a famed goalkeeping tradition embodied by the legendary José Luis Chilavert, Paraguay have long been one of CONMEBOL's toughest outs.

Paraguay have appeared at eight World Cups, reliably reaching the knockout rounds. They advanced to the round of 16 in 1986, 1998, and 2002, and enjoyed their finest moment in 2010, reaching the quarterfinals for the first time before a narrow 1-0 loss to eventual champions Spain. Their resilient, well-drilled sides have made them perennial qualifiers, and Paraguay return to the World Cup in 2026 after missing the previous two editions.
