San Diego FC is MLS's newest club, launching in 2025 with an ownership group led by Mohamed Mansour alongside the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, and playing its home matches at Snapdragon Stadium. San Diego FC's ownership group was awarded MLS's 30th franchise on May 18, 2023, and the club debuted in 2025. In its very first regular season, San Diego FC posted a 19-9-6 record for 63 points, breaking MLS records for wins and points by an expansion team and earning the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. The club opened its history with a 2-0 win over defending champion LA Galaxy. As the newest team in the league, San Diego FC has yet to add postseason silverware but arrived with one of the most successful inaugural campaigns in MLS history.
