FC Dallas has spent three decades as a charter club of MLS, evolving from the Dallas Burn into the club known today. The team has built a strong reputation for player development, consistently producing talent for the U.S. men's national team through its respected academy system. Despite that steady production of talent, an MLS Cup title has stayed just out of reach across the club's history. FC Dallas plays hard-working, possession-based soccer rooted in a deep Texas youth pipeline.
Founded in 1995 as the Dallas Burn, the club was a charter member of MLS beginning play in the 1996 season and rebranded as FC Dallas in 2004. Dallas reached the MLS Cup final twice, losing to D.C. United in 1997 and to the Colorado Rapids in extra time in 2010, and remains without a league title. The club has found silverware elsewhere, winning U.S. Open Cups in 1997, 2016, and 2018, and its first Supporters' Shield in 2016.
