Overview
Orlando City SC brought MLS to Central Florida in 2015, capitalizing on a lower-division fan base that had already proven fiercely loyal. The club's purple identity and passionate supporters' sections quickly made Orlando's home matches among the league's most electric atmospheres. Built initially around global star power, the team has since matured into a steadier playoff contender. Orlando remains one of the league's most improved clubs of the past several seasons.
History & Legacy
Founded in 2010 by Phil Rawlins, Orlando City won titles in the USL/USL Pro ranks before being awarded an MLS expansion franchise and debuting in the league in 2015. The club has never reached an MLS Cup final, but has continued to progress, posting its best-ever regular season finish in 2023 and advancing past the first playoff round for the first time that year. Under Wilf family ownership since 2021, Orlando won the U.S. Open Cup in 2022 and has qualified for the CONCACAF Champions Cup on multiple occasions.
