History & Legacy
Founded in 1967 as a charter member of the American Basketball Association, the Nuggets joined the NBA in the 1976 merger. Denver went decades without a Finals appearance before Nikola Jokić's transformative play carried the franchise to its first NBA championship in 2023, defeating the Miami Heat. Jokić, a two-time Finals participant and multiple-time MVP, has become the centerpiece of the franchise's most successful era.
