The Winnipeg Jets are the NHL's return to a city that once lost its team and never stopped wanting it back, playing intense, sold-out hockey at Canada Life Centre. The 'whiteout' playoff tradition, born from the original Jets era, has been revived into one of the league's signature atmospheres. Built around speed, skill up front, and increasingly strong goaltending, Winnipeg has grown into a legitimate Western Conference contender despite being one of the smallest markets in the league. The Jets carry a proud prairie hockey identity and a fan base whose loyalty helped bring the NHL back home.
The current Jets franchise began as the Atlanta Thrashers, an NHL expansion team that started play in 1999. After struggling for relevance in Atlanta for over a decade, the franchise was sold and relocated to Winnipeg in 2011, adopting the name Jets in tribute to the original WHA/NHL Winnipeg Jets of 1972-1996. Since the move, the club has developed into a consistent playoff team, highlighted by a run to the 2018 Western Conference Final. The Jets have not yet won a Stanley Cup as a franchise.
