Atlanta Dream

The Atlanta Dream are one of the WNBA's most competitive franchises, bringing professional women's basketball to the heart of the South. The Dream have cultivated a passionate fanbase in a city with deep basketball roots, and the franchise has become known for its athletic, up-tempo style and its willingness to lead off the court as well as on it. A new ownership group featuring former Dream star Renee Montgomery has energized the organization in recent seasons.

Founded as an expansion franchise in 2008, the Dream rocketed to relevance behind Angel McCoughtry, reaching the WNBA Finals three times in four years — 2010, 2011, and 2013 — though a championship has so far eluded them. The franchise made national headlines in 2020 when its players helped drive social change during the WNBA bubble season, and the subsequent ownership change made Montgomery the first former player to become both an owner and executive of a WNBA team. A young core has since pointed the franchise toward a new contending era.
