Toronto Tempo

The Toronto Tempo made history as the WNBA's first franchise located outside the United States, tipping off in the 2026 season out of the Coca-Cola Coliseum. Backed by the Kilmer Group, the Tempo carry the weight of introducing top-level women's professional basketball to Canada, with select regular-season games also planned in Vancouver and Montreal to build a truly national following. Their arrival marks a genuine expansion of the league's footprint beyond American borders.

Announced in 2024 and launched in 2026 as part of the same expansion class as the Portland Fire, the Tempo were built through an expansion draft led by first pick Julie Allemand and a 2026 draft class headlined by sixth overall pick Kiki Rice, under first head coach Sandy Brondello. As a brand-new franchise, Toronto has not yet won a championship.
