The Connecticut Sun play out of Mohegan Sun Arena on tribal land in Uncasville, giving them one of the most distinctive homes in professional sports. Small-market by WNBA standards but never short on grit, the Sun have built a reputation for tough, defense-first basketball and one of the league's most loyal fan bases. They've been perennial playoff contenders through multiple eras without yet breaking through for a title.
The franchise began in 1999 as the Orlando Miracle before relocating to Connecticut in 2003 and taking the Sun name. Connecticut reached the WNBA Finals four times -- 2004, 2005, 2019, and 2022 -- but has come up short each time, making it one of the league's most successful teams to still be chasing its first championship. The Sun have developed a strong track record for player development and consistent regular-season success.
