The 'Battle Of LA' and it's history
While a rivalry is usually competitive, think again. The Clippers and Lakers rivalry began in 1984, after the Clippers moved from Buffalo in 1978 and changed their name to the Clippers, and then moving from San Diego to LA in 1984 (San Diego has it tough don't they) Now to the competitive part, which, isn't here. The Lakers are 158-89 in the series, and they have never met in the postseason (fun fact!) Some more fun facts: Kobe Bryant almost played for the Clippers after his rookie deal expired The Lakers closest to playing the Clippers in the postseason was 2006, where they lost to the Suns after building a 3-1 lead, and the Clippers advanced to the second round. I actually don't know if this is unknown or not but: Chris Paul was supposed to go to the Lakers. David Stern vetoed the trade, and he went to the Clippers. Back to the history we go During the "iconic" 2011-12 season, one of the games had multiple players ejected because of technical fouls. In the same season, they swept the Lakers 4-0, the first time they had done so One more time they almost met in the playoffs was during the bubble season. This time, the Lakers advanced to the Western conference finals, and awaited the winner of the Clippers series. The Clippers blew a 3-1 lead, or a 3-2 lead at the time the Lakers advanced, and we're eliminated by the Nuggets. The Clippers were 32-7 against the Lakers from 2012-2021. The Lakers have won 12 championships in LA, while the closest the Clippers have gone was a 4-2 loss in the WCF to the Suns in 2021.
