Egypt Wins!

On day 11 of the World Cup Egypt took the field against New Zealand for their second group stage game. Both teams had one point and were looking for a crucial win. Egypt had been to the World Cup before but has drew every game they had played making them have a 7 game draw streak. New Zealand started off the scoring early and took a 1-0 lead into the half. Everyone including myself were think something along the lines of “Egypts going to tie again” but that was not the case this time. The Egyptians came out of half time firing. The “Egyptian king” Mohamed Salah assisted the first goal to tie the game up then scored the second goal in the 67th minute. Then to put the game to rest Trezeguet scored in the 82 minute completely closing the door on New Zealand. Egypt would later get their very long awaited first ever World Cup Win.

MESSI SCORES HIS 17th!

Lionel Messi has broken the all time World Cup goal scoring record with his 17th goal against Austria on June 22, 2026. If he plans on keeping his record he needs to keep on scoring because Mbappe is only 3 goals away from tying his record and he is only 27.

Belgiums Scoring Problem

After Belgiums 0-0 draw against Iran on June 21st it has officially been over 400 game minutes since Belgium scored a goal in World Cup play. In their first game against Egypt they drew 1-1, their goal came from an own goal by the Egyptian defender. If Belgium wants to escape group G they need to start scoring.

No wiggle Room

Curaçao’s historic first point at a World Cup is pretty much entirely thanks to one man. A 37-year-old goalkeeper who is the backup at Miami’s 2nd tier club. Eloy Room was so close to tying Tim Howard’s World Cup single game saves record of 16, but he’ll have to settle for 15 and 2nd place. Luckily, he did achieve a different record. Room now holds the all-time record for most saves in a clean sheet at the World Cup. The previous record was held by Memo Ochoa with 9, which he did back in 2018. Prior to Room, no goalkeeper had ever stopped double digit shots while keeping all of them out, he did it with 15. Incredible.
