The Brewers’ 22-0 victory is tied for the largest shutout victory in modern MLB history. The largest blowout in all of MLB history happened all the way back in 1883 in a 28-0 victory for the Providence Grays against Philadelphia. There have only been two other 22-0 blowout victories: One happened in 1975 when the Pittsburgh Pirates crushed the Chicago Cubs in a game where Pirate Reggie Stennett had 7 hits and 5 runs. The other happened in 2004 when the Cleveland Baseball Team destroyed the New York Yankees of all teams. Omar Vizquel had 6 hits and 4 RBIs. One other notable thing is Milwaukee is the first team in over 100 years to put up a 22-0 blowout in their home building. Both the Pirates and Cleveland did theirs as the away team.

An RBI for Everyone, Hold the K's

The 2026 Red Sox are the first team to have all 9 hitters in their starting lineup collect an RBI while also not striking out in a single game since an older iteration of the Red Sox did it against the St. Louis Browns on June 25th, 1949.

Alaska-born Pitching

Bob Brenly mentioned tonight that only 13 players born in Alaska have played in the major leagues, 11 of which were from Anchorage, one being tonight’s starter for Colorado, Gabriel Hughes, but most notably the decorated former Diamondback, Curt Schilling.

Sibling Strength

Today was a fantastic day for the Lombard family. George Lombard Jr. became the 3rd youngest Yankee to ever make his MLB debut at shortstop, only behind Bobby Murcer and Derek Jeter, so pretty good company. Lombard Jr. also became the 14th Yankee ever to hit a home run in his debut. As if that wasn’t good enough, George’s younger brother, Jacob Lombard, made his pro debut in the minors and also hit a home run earlier today in Single-A Jupiter! I’m not a parent, but I can only imagine their mom and dad are ecstatic. The only way this could be better is if they both hit a debut homer in MLB.
