Winning streaks are great… kinda

The Boston Red Sox have won 11 games in a row. It is just the 17th time in their history that they’ve completed a winning streak of this size. It’s the first one they’ve had since 2016 and just the 4th of the 21st century. Ironically they have failed to win a playoff game more often than not when having an 11-game win streak under their belt. In 1995, they won 12 games in a row in August and ultimately got swept by the insanely stacked 1995 Cleveland team. In 2006, they won 12 games in a row in June and ended up missing the playoffs in the ludicrously stacked American League. In 2009, they won 11 games in a row in April and ended up making the playoffs just to get swept by the Angels. In 2016, they won 11 games in a row in September in David Ortiz’s final season just to get swept by Cleveland in the ALDS. If they make the playoffs and win a game, this will be the first time Boston wins a playoff game in the same season they have an 11-game winning streak in 30 years.

Lucky 13 is back in Beantown

The Boston Red Sox have won 13 games in a row for the first time since 1948. How long ago was that? Ted Williams was in his age 29 season back then and hit “only” .369 with an OPS of 1.112. The 2026 team is now tied for the 2nd longest winning streak in Red Sox history with the 1948 group and just 2 games behind the Red Sox record of 15, held by the 1946 team. A season where Ted Williams was 27, returned from the war and hit a ridiculous 1.164 OPS while winning MVP. The 1946 team actually made it to the World Series, but lost in 7, so good company this time.

Ceddanne, say goodnight!

"Walk-off homer, Ceddanne, say goodnight! He cannot be stopped!" Exactly one year ago today (July 11, 2025), Ceddanne Rafaela gave us one of the best moments of the Red Sox’s season. The Sox were down 4-3 in the bottom of the 9th against the Rays. Rafaela stepped up with a runner on base, fell behind 1-2 against Pete Fairbanks, and then completely tanked an 86 mph slider over the Green Monster. It locked in a massive 5-4 comeback win and extended the team's winning streak to 8 games.

With this Win over the Athletics Dave Robert’s becomes the fastest manager to ever reach 1,000 win. He is the 69th manager to achieve the 1,000 win mark. He become the Manger for Los Angeles November 23, 2015. He’s been with LA ever since. In 10 seasons he’s won 3 World Series and has made it to the playoffs every year. Dave is only 54 years old. This man has so many wins already and so many more likely to follow.
