That is not how you play football, needless to say
The year is 1916. Quite a controversial year around the world. And 2 schools in Georgia are about to break the rules of football. Earlier in 1916, Cumberland beat Georgia Tech in baseball 22-0. John Heisman did not like that. He challenged Cumberland to a football game. Now, Georgia Tech was a highly regarded team in CFB. Cumberland didn't even have a football program. Now, Cumberland, say or no say, did not want to play this game. However, if they didn't, Heisman would sue for 3 THOUSAND DOLLARS (which, in 1916, is a lot, and is about 90k today) But, Heisman payed Cumberland 500 bucks. And apparently that's enough to watch your university get brutally clobbered in front of about 2000 fans. Keep in mind, Cumberland's team was mostly law students. Here's a summary of the entire game: Punt Touchdown Turnover Touchdown And times that by like 50. Cumberland did do something on defense and blocked an extra point. BY CREATING A HUMAN PYRAMID. Also, the Georgia Tech running backs had 32 touchdowns. By god that's a lot. If you want more info on this topic, I highly suggest Jon Bois' video because there's a lot more that I could cover here but I don't feel like it
