My 2026-27 La Liga Table Predictions

The 2026-27 La Liga season begins in just a couple of hours, so here are my predictions. 20. Elche 19. Santander 18. Deportivo 17. Getafe 16. Osasuna 15. Sevilla 14. Malaga 13. Espanyol 12. Alaves 11. Levante 10. Celta 9. Rayo Vallecano 8. Valencia 7. Real Betis Playing in the Champions League can always take a toll on teams. They lost much more talent than they gained during the transfer window. Overall I just think it's going to be a subpar season for them, barely missing out on a European spot. 6. Real Sociedad After Mikel Oyarzabal's incredible World Cup, I think he is going to follow it up with a great club season. He will be in the La Liga Golden Boot race and carry this Sociedad team. I don't think they'll be up in contention with the elite teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid, but they'll beat the lower teams in the league and do what they need to do to get into at least a Conference League spot. 5. Villarreal The American Alex Freeman 🇺🇸 is about to have a huge breakout year. We saw a ton from him in the World Cup, and he's got a ton of flexibility, can play right back or center back. He only just turned 22 a week ago, so I hope he can make his way to an even higher level team in Europe sometime soon, but getting Champions League experience this season will be great for him. 4. Athletic Bilbao After finishing 12th last season, it will be a huge step up into a Champions League spot. Unai Simon was great in the World Cup, and with Aymeric Laporte supporting him at center back, they will have one of the best defenses in the league. They'll also have Nico Williams leading the attack, I think they'll have a very successful season. 3. Atletico Madrid After Julian Alvarez being the most hyped up player in the transfer window this summer, he's still staying at Atletico Madrid. There's still time left in the window, but if he stays at Atletico, I don't see any way they don't finish above everyone except Real Madrid and Barcelona. 2. Real Madrid Another year of #2 for Real Madrid. I think they'll go further in the Champions League than Barcelona will, but I have Madrid yet again finishing 2nd in La Liga. Bellingham hasn't truly been the player that Real Madrid has expected him to be, and after a great World Cup I think he is looking the best he has, but I've yet to see it. Mbappe still hasn't won a major trophy aside from a Ligue 1 and I don't see that changing this year. 1. Barcelona It will be Lamine Yamal's year. I think Harry Kane will win this year's Ballon d'Or, but next season, it's Lamine Yamal's. He is going to lead this Barcelona team to another championship. Adding Rodri to this team is also incredible for them, defense is probably their worst point so adding the best defensive midfielder in the world is a perfect move. I think Pau Cubarsi will also have a huge step forward which will support the defense a ton as well.
