On May 15th, 1981, Len Barker of the Cleveland Indians threw the 10th perfect game in MLB history. The first perfect game in 13 years, Barker threw 102 pitches in his historic outing against the Toronto Blue Jays. He struck out 11 batters, all swinging, including seven of the final 11 men he faced. No Blue Jay batter reached a three-ball count against Barker, with only eight batters pushing him to ball two. Barker also became the first pitcher to throw a perfect game without coming up to bat, with the American League having adopted the designated hitter in 1973. To this day, Barker remains the last Cleveland pitcher to throw a no-hitter. Danny Ainge, who would go on to play 14 seasons in the NBA, was on the losing end of this game. He struck out once and grounded out before being pinch-hit for in the ninth inning. The Indians won the game 3-0.
