On June 3rd of 1991, in a class with the likes of Manny Ramirez and Shawn Green, the Yankees held the #1 overall pick. Instead of taking either of these great players, they selected Brien Taylor, a pitcher fresh out of highschool. His first two years were very normal, pitching well at A+ and AA. Then on one fateful December night in 1993, he got into a bar fight defending his brother. Because of the bar fight, he dislocated his pitching shoulder and tore his labrum. He missed the entirety of 1994 and pitched a few seasons in the minors after that but was never the same after. He is the only #1 overall prospect since baseball america started the rankings in 1990 to never make the majors. Just a sad story all around for the guy.
