One Nation United

The Untied State is home to freedom, guns, Rednecks, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup. As an American myself I'm so happy that we are hosting this event. My expectations are the round of 32. I can 100% see this team falling apart and getting grouped but I still have faith! The last time the US held the World Cup was In 1994 where we saw the boys in blue get to the round of 16. The team this year is quite different with talent across Europe including USMNT golden boy Christian Pulisic. They also have some players from the Premier League including Antonee Robinson Fulham, Chirs Richards Crystal Palace, Tyler Adams AFC Bournemouth, and Brenden Aarronson Leeds UTD. They have Weston McKennie from Juventus which plays great football (soccer) over in Italy. They also have seven MLS players including 37 year old Tim Ream from Charlotte FC. The defense and finishing is going to be an issue for the US. When you start a 37 year old at center back your going to have some weak points. Im not hating on Ream he's on my Charlotte FC and I love having him. But going from the MLS to playing against the best players and teams in the world, yea thats a jump. The goal scoring is also a problem. Most of the United States is relying on Christian Pulisic to have a 10 goal tournament. Again, no hate to big P but he's a guy that comes off the bench for a 5th place seriesA team. Im not a Diego Luna glazer or anything but the fact that Cristian Roldan got in over him is crazy. I understand that Roldan is a favorite among the staff and team but we need a player with some dog in him, some swag. Thats what Luna brings. As the colonies united in 1776 we have to unite June 12th to cheer on America! Whether the US gets grouped or goes on a magical run and the team ends up at the white house I'll be chanting "USA all the way." What do you think the United States can accomplish?

With Paraguay’s victory over Turkey, the United States officially finish on top of Group D and punch their ticket to the knockout stage just 9 days in. The Americans opened the tournament with back-to-back victories, matching a feat not accomplished by a U.S. men's national team in 96 years. The last time it happened was the 1930 World Cup in Uruguay, where the United States defeated Belgium and Paraguay en route to a third-place finish. The energy and momentum surrounding this team is starting to feel like something special is brewing on home soil. To be continued....

Pride and the Origin of the High Five

The most widely accepted origin of the high five can be credited to Dodgers teammates Glenn Burke and Dusty Baker. It built its legacy within the LGBTQ+ community. On October 2nd, 1977, the Dodgers and Astros were playing in the final game of their regular seasons. In the sixth inning, Baker hit his 30th home run of the season off of pitcher J.R. Richard. This made the Dodgers the first team ever to have four hitters with at least 30 home runs each in a single season. Burke, waiting on deck, greeted Baker with a triumphant hand in the air. Not knowing what to do, Baker slapped his hand. "His hand was up in the air, and he was arching way back," said Baker in 2011. "So I reached up and hit his hand. It seemed like the thing to do." Burke went on to be the first MLB player to come out as gay after his playing career. He faced discrimination throughout his time in the majors. He angered Dodgers' manager Tommy Lasorda by befriending his gay son, Tommy Lasorda Jr. Burke was later traded to Oakland, a move unpopular with Dodgers players, and suffered discrimination from both other players and from the Athletics' management. Billy Martin introduced Burke to the newest members of the team in 1980 by stating, "Oh, by the way, this is Glenn Burke and he's a faggot." After retiring from baseball, Burke used the high five with other gay residents of the Castro district of San Francisco, and it became a symbol of gay pride. Through the high five, Burke's legacy lives on decades later. Burke's sister, Lutha Davis, says Burke himself was pleased to see the high five spilling out of sports to punctuate smaller, everyday joys. "Now when something great happens in life, people do the high five," she says. "I call it 'the high five of life.'" Happy Pride Month, everyone.

Down Goes The Hernandez Brothers

The Dodgers played the Rockies in a three game series in LA earlier this week. Game 1 we saw the return of Kike Hernandez and he started off HOT getting hits and home runs in his first two game. But half way through game 2, his second game back he torn his oblique rounding first base. During game three in the the third ish inning Teo Hernandez step to the plate, he had been struggling but still getting hits and making plays for the dodgers. Teo hit a ground ball to second base and he hurt his hamstring causing him to hit his helmet against the dodgers little cubby’s for their helmets then he left the game. He will be getting a scan later today (May 28, 2026) but is expected to be placed on the IL In two games both players hurt the same leg running the bases. Although that might seem like a big deal to lose two starters in two days the dodgers have incredible depth and will be able to continue playing at a high level. Only time will tell the extent of their injury’s, I hope them the best with fast recovery’s.
