South Korea has two suns, there’s the one in the sky and there’s Heung-Min Son. Both are vital to this team. South Korea played 16 WCQ games grabbing 11 wins and 5 draws. They scored 40 goals and conceded 8 goals. Thats a pretty impressive margin. Son scored 10 of those 40 goals and Lee Kang-in had 6 assists. They did not play anyone really challenging but it’s semi concerning who they drew against. Palestine and Oman both drew against South Korea. The South Koreans are relying on Son and Lee as much as we rely on the water to come out of our sink. I know it’s a weird comparison but it’s true. Some of their biggest weaknesses are inconsistent and unreliable wingback along with the outrageous tasks, they asked son and Lee to perform. They have star power that’s no question but they rely on that so much. They play a 3-4-3 their 3 backs have been historically pretty solid back there. They play defense over attack but when they do attack it’s a two man show. If Bae Junho can break out this tournament we might be having a different conversation. Now let’s talk Jerseys for a minute. I kinda a fan kinda not. I like a dye fit they got going on with all the colors. Would I by these? Probably not. But I still like them If South Korea goes out early it’s going to be because of too much of a defensive mindset and a poor tournament from Son and Lee. I want to see them play Japan in the knockouts so bad. How far do think South Korea will get?
