“Always exciting when the top prospect makes their debut and the best part is it happened in a game that was already good. Luckily, we wouldn’t have to wait long for the main event. Konnor Griffin came up to the plate in the bottom of the 2nd, with 1 out and a runner on 1st. Griffin’s first ever MLB at-bat started out dicey with him swinging at everything and missing more often than not. Luckily, he regained his composure after he he 2 strikes. After a collective deep breath from the Pittsburgh faithful, he smacked an RBI double into the gap in centre field. That double kicked off a rally. He scored a run thanks to a hit from the very next batter and the Pirates finished the inning with a 4-0 thanks to the rally Griffin started. Without that rally, the Pirates do not win this game. The Orioles eventually found a way to climb back into it. O’Hearn gave the Pirates a valuable insurance run that saved Gunnar’s 9th inning homer from tying the game and the Pirates get an ever-elusive win.”
