“A mucky game that was perfect for the weather in New Jersey. Panama made sure to make it tough on the English, but they eventually collapsed under English fury. At first this felt like a potential repeat of the game against Ghana. England had what felt like 90% of the possession, but it felt like they couldn’t create anything substantial and the chances they did get were wasted. That was until Bellingham blasted a goal into the back of the net just 15 minutes into the 2nd half. At that point, the floodgates opened and Harry Kane doubled the lead while becoming England’s all-time leading goal scorer in the World Cup, passing the great Gary Lineker. Even though this game initially felt like the Ghana-England matchup, it suffers from the fact that England just chilled out after the 2nd goal. They took out their best performers on the day and just waited for the final whistle. Could’ve been salvaged had Panama found the back of the net, but their best chance was ultimately offside. ”
