“Both Qatar and Bosnia needed a win to have any real chance to qualifying for the knockouts. Fortunately, both teams played with an amount of desperation that was fitting for the stakes in the first half. Bosnia started it mostly in control and unleashing some powerful shots that Qatar’s keeper had to bat away. Eventually, Alajbegovic hit a screamer just out of the keeper’s reach to give Bosnia the lead. Then a Qatar own goal made this seem like another blowout and Qatar would go down as the worst team of a 2nd straight World Cup. Fortunately for their citizens, they still had some fight in them. Hassan Al Haydos scored before the end of the first half to give his team some hope and looked very scary in the final minutes. Fortunately for Bosnia enjoyers like myself, their defence locked it down in the second half and made sure Qatar couldn’t get much. After about 20 minutes, Qatar looked threatening again briefly before the Bosnians took firm control and eventually scored the dagger. ”
