“Pretty good game for New York’s last win in the NBA Finals. I was not alive so I didn’t get to watch this game live. Looking back, this game was both close and kinda one-sided. This game had no lead changes and aside from 0-0, this game was tied once for about a minute. 58-58 with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter after an 8-0 run for the Spurs. Fittingly, that tie was broken up by an Alan Houston 3-pointer and the Spurs never led again. As a matter of fact, New York led for 46 minutes in this game. Yet, at the same time, New York almost never led by double digits, meaning the Spurs were always in striking distance, the Knicks just held them off. Defense was the name of the game, in both sides, but specifically for the Knicks, they had to stop Tim Duncan. TD had been unstoppable and New York did a much better job slowing him down here. Even then, the Spurs never truly went away and it was up to Houston and Sprewell to close them out, which is exactly what they did in the 4th. ”
