In an age where there is concern about players and teams not really caring about rivalries across North American sports, it is so refreshing to see one thriving. Believe it or not, I couldn’t actually watch a lot of this one because I prioritized spending time with my family instead of watching this game on my own. Crazy, I know. In all seriousness, despite this game becoming lopsided for the Spurs, it was closer than it seemed. Wemby is still Wemby even while coming off the bench, yet, he wasn’t the star. Fox was COOKING OKC in that first half. 21 points on crazy efficiency, helped the Spurs take the lead into halftime. After that, Spurs cooled down offensively but they SHUT DOWN OKC’s offense. Only Hartenstein made more than 2 shots and the Spurs walked away with a win. I heard whispers of the Wemby-Holmgren rivalry before they were drafted. I am so glad that rivalry is legit and Wemby takes is very personally.
