“Pretty good game that started strong and limped over the line. Did you think the NHL playoffs were out of chaos because Buffalo was out? WRONG! Montreal is still around and chaos is apparently their middle name. Even by their lofty standards, the start of this game was NUTS. 3 goals in less than 4 minutes! Carolina scored 30 seconds into the game and Montreal scores 4 unanswered goals! Absolutely bonkers. After that though, Carolina played their style: relentless forechecking. Just 2 problems with that. First, they couldn’t convert. No matter how many chances they got, Carolina just couldn’t beat Dobeš. Either they’d blow the chance or a save would be made. Second and more significantly, Carolina’s forecheck left them vulnerable from the back which Montreal took FULL advantage of and got rush chance after rush chance mixed with some breakaways. Hurricanes made a hard push in the 2nd, but ran out of gas in the 3rd. 1st period was awesome! 2nd was cool. 3rd was not fun at all.”
