“Night and Day for Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal. After a game that left the entire world questioning CR7, Roberto Martinez and the Portugal squad, this is the exactly the kind of performance they needed: vindictive, merciless and dominant. From start-to-finish, Uzbekistan had no chance. Even better, CR7 got to show off he’s still got some gas in the tank with a couple goals in this game, neither being a cakewalk for the 41-year-old. He also became the first man ever to score in the 6 different World Cups. Alongside CR7’s re-emergence, I was most impressed with Nuno Mendes. He was absolutely ruthless on both ends of the field. Contributing to the attack, shutting down everything on his wing and making Uzbekistan wish they were playing Colombia again. With all that being said, this game basically had no drama aside from anticipating CR7’s hat trick. Uzbekistan’s only goal was taken away because of a foul. This game comfortably escapes the red because of greatness, but can’t be green.”
