“Much better performance from the Rays, but they’re still leaving with a loss, just a more respectable one. Breath of fresh air compared to the first game. The Rays immediately showed that this wasn’t gonna be a repeat of the afternoon game when they got a rally going and DeLuca drove in a couple runs. A much better start that could help Tampa pull this off, only to watch the Red Sox outdo it completely in the bottom of the inning thanks to 2 home runs from Wilyer Abreu and Contreras. Instead of small ball like the first game, it was jacks, mostly from Abreu who was on fire in the first few innings and proved it when he got a home run in the bottom of the 3rd to offset Junior Camineiro’s and keep Boston’s lead. The Rays never tied it up again and the Red Sox didn’t cruise, but they drove to victory while the annoyed Rays sat in the passenger seat. We also got cameo appearances from both Craig Kimbrel and Aroldis Chapman in this game which I thought was fun, but not much else was fun. ”
