Almost exactly 20 years ago, Kobe Bryant scored 81 points in the Staples Center. Even though I wasn’t a Raptors fan, it hurts to be reminded of that game, but it is also a reminder how much of a poverty franchise we were before Masai. The first game of the Raptors’ west coast road trip. This is going to be a true test and measuring stick for this team in the wider NBA, we failed part 1 of the test. At first, it looked like the Raptors would actually put up a good showing. Sure, they were shooting poorly, but the defense was tough and the passing was looking great. That sequence when Ingram blocked Marcus Smart’s dunk and hit a 3 gave me faith. However, the spirits of 2006 Kobe and garbage 2006 Raptors haunted us at the worst time. Rui, LeBron and Ayton combined for a 9-2 run near the end of the 3rd to take the lead and then the Raptors couldn’t hit a shot in the 4th. Speaking of Ayton, we let him live up to his DominAyton nickname with how much he dominated our lack of interior defense
