“This was a strange one. On one hand it came down to the wire, ending with a perfect pass from Ferran Torres to Mikel Merino who finished it delicately to win it for Spain in the final minutes. That goal was then followed up by a couple heart stopping chances for Portugal that ultimately proved futile as the final whistle blared on their World Cup hopes and CR7’s World Cup career. Ultimately, this should be remembered as a tightly contested battle between 2 nations that share a border On the other hand, the best way I can describe the 90 minutes before that goal is ‘lack of capitalization’. Although Portugal put up a better fight than I thought they would, the first half still slightly leaned in Spain’s favour. In the 2nd half, there was a turning point, Nuno Mendes got hurt. His absence limited Portugal’s attack and defence, leading to Spain having total control and giving the game a feeling of inevitability So I have decided to give this game a 5 to represent 2 sides of the same coin”
