The Tempo played a lot better than I thought they would, but the Aces obviously took over when they had to. Toronto never let Las Vegas pull very far away. Especially in the first half, the Tempo were right there and they were battling for the lead! It stayed close until late in the third quarter when Toronto fell into a dry spell, and the Aces were able to build their lead. Las Vegas never made this game very uneventful, but they held a solid cushion for the whole end of this contest. Still a fun game though even if the end wasn’t anything special!

When it came out that Sykes and Morrow were out for the rest of the season, I knew we were cooked. To be honest, I’m surprised this wasn’t a bigger blowout. That statement doesn’t mean it wasn’t a blowout. Just not as big as I thought it would be, which isn’t saying much. Las Vegas still won by double digits and A’ja Wilson still dominated, both were expected. What I didn’t expect was Toronto hanging on for so long. It was only a 4-point game at halftime. Hell, part way through the 3rd it was still in the balance. Even if you thought Vegas had the edge (which they did), it was not a forgone conclusion. Fortunately the end of the 3rd and start of the 4th made the end inevitable. Aces could’ve won by 15 or 20, but they settled for a 10-point win. How kind of them. Another surprise was the double Ks, Kiki Rice and Kia Nurse. Kiki hasn’t been amazing, but she’s shown real signs of having a good floor while Nurse had a good game off the bench, leading the team in scoring. Would love more.
