“i have very distinct memories of watching part of this game live. i believe this was my real introduction to soccer outside the MLS. i've gone back and watched more highlights but everyone always talks about the physicality of this game, and the game winning goal from iniesta. this was the absolute peak of spain and the tiki taka era. won a world cup in between back to back euros. the dutch really could only resort to trying to drag spain down and get physical with them and it almost got them to pens. great wc final. great wc winning team. cant believe nigel de jong didnt get a red for that xabi alonso tackle”
