“I like the aggressive small ball the Sox are playing. I think that’s a core piece of their offensive resurgence: it also allows everyone to feel like they have a real chance of advancing at any moment. Bennett started really strong but just seemed to have every AB extended too long, culminating in a 12-pitcher to Butler in the 6th. He still has some developing to do, but a lot to be excited about with him. Butler’s got some flash that I like and has made some really smart plays, both at the plate and on the bases. Someone to keep an eye on. Duran’s plat discipline problem feels very similar to the one that Rafaella has been exorcising. If Roman comes back to LF it may be a bad situation for him. The Durbin-Contreras connection is so fun to watch. “It’s only 4 runs” is not something I thought I’d be thinking, especially starting the season 1-18 when down by 2. That rally at the end really had me believing. Need to keep the foot on the gas to finish out the season.”
