Because of circumstances outside of either team’s control, this game basically became the AFC Championship game overnight. The Texans’ defense came to play and the offense wanted to go home. The 2nd quarter personified this. Harrison Bryant tripped on a slice block, leaving Chaisson unblocked to hit Stroud and set up a pick 6 for Marcus Jones. On the very next drive, Hutchinson dropped a pass and gave the Pats another interception. Patriots scored and the Texans looked like they were finally going to get some momentum, only for Carlton Davis to intercept a bad Stroud throw. Patriots defense was bullying the Texans in one of the strangest quarters I have ever seen. Somehow, Houston still had a chance thanks to their D and they managed to get a couple field goals to cut the deficit until Kayshon Boutte caught the dagger TD with an insane one-handed grab for the FIRST ONE-HANDED CATCH OF HIS CAREER. Texans never made it close after that. Stroud and the Texans’ offense cost them this game.
