“Best game of the tournament so far. An absolutely eclectic draw between two dynamic groups of players. As a Canadian, I love the Dutch, but as a football fan, I love Japan. It was tough picking which team to root for so I’m ecstatic this was a fantastic game that ended in a draw. It didn’t look like it would be fun to watch at first. The Dutch back line was doing a fantastic job shutting down all of Japan’s advances, while getting some chances themselves. At halftime it was 0-0, but this game really picked up on the 2nd half. It started with the man that led that Dutch defence, Virgil van Dijk, heading the ball out of the reach of Japan’s goalkeeper and opening the scoring. The last 40 minutes were epic. Back and forth chances. Nakamura scoring a crafty goal less than 10 minutes later, only for Summerville to do the same. Koeman bafflingly had his squad drop back and protect the lead and Japan’s vibrant attack tied it up. The last few minutes were slow as both teams preserved the draw”
