I mean, come on. If this game isn’t a 10, pretty much nothing is. One of the greatest moments in sports history, let alone hockey history. Even as a Canadian, my dad has told me stories of rooting for the USA. The Soviet Union was a Goliath. A juggernaut. No matter what you call them they were basically unstoppable. They were so good that they didn’t practice pulling the goalies because they never trailed in the 3rd period. Despite all that, a group of random college kids managed to pull off the greatest upset in sports history. On top of that history, this was an incredible game. Mike Eruzione scores a goal to take the lead with 10 minutes left and the USA team held on for dear life to beat the Russians. In the dying seconds, Al Michaels, alongside legendary goaltender Ken Dryden, would ask a question that still rings through the ears of hockey players to this day. “Do you believe in miracles?!” It feels like something out of a movie. I wish I had been alive to see it happen.
