“This was the game I was most excited for and it lived up to the hype… mostly. Japan and Brazil are 2 very entertaining sides of the same coin. I saw someone comment this was new-school dribbling against the originators and I think that is a perfect description. Japan was okay with losing the possession battle in exchange for keeping their attack efficient and it was working in the first half. Brazil had the majority of chances, but most of them were unthreatening to Zion Suzuki. Meanwhile Japan picked their spots and Sano intercepted a pass, beat a defender and perfectly finished the sequence with a goal. Unfortunately, Japan struggled in the second half. Call it halftime adjustments or just Japan being outclassed as they ran out of energy, but Brazil was firmly in control and Casemiro scoring put all momentum in their favour. The Blue Samurai couldn’t generate another chance and we got another stoppage time goal to win it thanks to Premier League champion Gabriel Martinelli. ”
