“Another knockout game that comes with a goal in stoppage time and penalties. If this wasn’t such an entertaining recurring event, I would be mad. Morocco’s World Cup magic continues as they add to the Netherlands’s long legacy of pain. This game was much more consistently entertaining than Germany-Morocco while containing a stoppage time goal and a more whacky penalty shootout that ironically added to the drama. But before all that, it seemed like we were gonna a feel-good story. Cody Gakpo, hours before this game, announced that his girlfriend had a miscarriage. Understandably, he may have considered not playing and it would’ve been understandable. Not only did he play, but he scored too. It was an emotional moment. Unfortunately, in the same way googling “Hakimi legal issue” ruins Morocco’s feel-good story, the Atlas Lions scored in the 90th minute to ruin Gakpo’s. After a boring extra time, we got a penalty shootout full of misses and Morocco missed the least so they won. *gulp*”
