The Schottenstein Center is a multipurpose arena on the Ohio State campus in Columbus and the home of the Buckeyes men's and women's basketball teams. Its basketball court is also known as Value City Arena, reflecting a separate naming partnership for the playing surface itself. As one of the largest arenas in the Big Ten, 'the Schott' gives Ohio State basketball a big-league atmosphere with scarlet-and-gray crowds packing the lower bowl. It also functions as central Ohio's primary venue for major concerts and touring events.
The Schottenstein Center opened in November 1998, named for Columbus retail benefactor Jerome Schottenstein, whose family helped fund the project. It replaced the aging St. John Arena as Ohio State's primary basketball venue and has since hosted decades of Big Ten basketball, NCAA tournament games, and Big Ten tournament rounds. Beyond athletics, it has been one of the busiest concert venues in the Midwest since opening. The arena remains the anchor of Ohio State's athletic campus alongside Ohio Stadium.
