Coleman Coliseum is the basketball arena of the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It serves as the home court for Tide men's and women's basketball and as the primary competition venue for Alabama's powerhouse gymnastics program. On meet nights, the building fills with the sound of one of the sport's most passionate gymnastics fan bases in the country. Its size and SEC pedigree make it one of the conference's more imposing venues for visiting basketball teams as well.
The building opened on January 30, 1968, as Memorial Coliseum, and at the time its roughly 15,000-seat capacity was the largest in the SEC and among the largest in the nation. It was renamed Coleman Coliseum in 1988 for longtime athletic administrator Wallace Wade Coleman. Beyond decades of SEC basketball, the building has been a major concert stop and has hosted Alabama's run of national championship gymnastics teams. Its half-century-plus run makes it one of the longest-serving arenas in the conference.
