Bridgeforth Stadium/Zane Showker Field

Bridgeforth Stadium, with its playing surface named Zane Showker Field, is the home of the James Madison University Dukes football team in Harrisonburg, Virginia. It seats nearly 25,000 fans and has become one of the loudest environments in the Sun Belt Conference, carrying over the reputation JMU built as an FCS powerhouse. Modern two-tiered grandstands and a tight, on-top-of-the-field layout make for an intense home atmosphere on Dukes game days.

Originally opened in 1975 as Madison Stadium with a capacity of about 5,200, the venue was renamed for donor William E. Bridgeforth and its field named for benefactor Zane Showker in 2003. A $62 million renovation completed in 2011 demolished the old west stands and track, raising capacity to nearly 25,000 and transforming it into a modern, single-purpose football stadium. That expansion coincided with JMU's rise to national FCS prominence, including national championship runs, and carried the Dukes' reputation for crowd noise into their move up to the FBS Sun Belt Conference.
