Humphrey Coliseum, nicknamed 'The Hump,' is the home of Mississippi State Bulldogs basketball in Starkville, Mississippi. It also hosts volleyball and university events, and after a 2023 renovation seats roughly 9,100 in a modernized bowl with expanded concourses and premium club areas. The building is famous for its wall of clanging Bulldog cowbells, a sound unique to Mississippi State that visiting SEC teams have to play through. Few environments in the conference get as loud as The Hump on a big SEC night.
Named for former MSU president George Duke Humphrey, the coliseum opened on December 1, 1975, with a win over Indiana State in front of a crowd of over 9,400. Its capacity has shifted several times over the decades, from an expansion to 10,500 in 1998 down to today's post-renovation figure. A $50 million renovation completed in 2023 modernized the arena's concourses, entrances, and technology while preserving its signature cowbell-driven SEC atmosphere.
