Boston Garden

Boston Garden is the historic home of the Boston Celtics, one of the NBA's most storied franchises, though the building itself was demolished in 1998. The original Garden on Causeway Street hosted 16 Celtics championship banners, the Bruins, and countless iconic moments from 1928 to 1995. Boston Garden opened in 1928 and was the Celtics' home for their entire dynasty era, from Bill Russell's 11 titles through Larry Bird's 1980s reign. The building was famously cramped, loud, and intimidating — visiting players called it the most difficult road environment in the league. It closed in 1995 and was demolished in 1998 after TD Garden opened next door. The Celtics' 17 banners include every championship won on Causeway Street, making Boston Garden one of sport's most hallowed addresses despite the building no longer standing.
