Oakland Arena was the longtime home of the Golden State Warriors, a steep, tight bowl nicknamed "Roaracle" for the deafening crowd noise it could generate on big nights. Tucked next to the old Coliseum complex, it lacked the glass and glamour of newer arenas but made up for it in raw intensity. For decades it was one of the toughest road environments in the NBA. It has continued hosting concerts and other events since the Warriors' 2019 departure.
It opened in 1966 as the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Arena and went through a major 1996-97 renovation before later stints as The Arena in Oakland and Oracle Arena. The building hosted the Warriors' dynasty-era championship teams of the 2010s, including three of their NBA titles, before the franchise moved across the bay to San Francisco's Chase Center in 2019. It reverted to the Oakland Arena name shortly after the Warriors' departure. Its reputation as one of the league's loudest buildings remains part of Bay Area basketball lore.
