One of the very few things I actually watch when it come to baseball every year. I had Schwarber winning beforehand and felt very confident after he went in the final. For Walker to hit those Magenta balls 3 times in a row out of the park is nothing short of a miracle. What a fun Derby and one for sure that will be remembered for a while.
What a derby! I so thought Junior was gonna win it but no! Jordan Walker with a walk off homer! To beat the favourite Kyle Schwarber! My only take aways from this is that the Commentators sucked and that America made it all about themselves with America 250 patches and the fonts Stars and Striped. This is an international sport now. But either then that wow what a derby sad I missed it
This had some real juice I was rooting for Jordan Walker with my nephew. We were basically extended members of the Walker family on those magenta balls. The kid just made more in 1 swing (1M) than his entire salary this year (799.4K). Hell yes.
Jordan Walker wins it in dramatic fashion to beat the home town hero Kyle Schwarber. I was sad to have a softball game during it however the highlights were electric.
What was wrong with the previous format? Why do we have to change it every 2 years? This just made it really slow… what I liked about the derby was the fast-paced high-energy action! Oh well, still a fun enough time I guess. Congrats Jordan Walker. Sad Schwarber didn’t win
Won't live up to the 2019 derby for me, but the rules seemed fair and Willson showed up even if the crowd tried their best to shut him down. Wish we got that semi-final swing-off but Jordan Walker stepping up in the final moment to upset the hometown hero was cinema.
Best home run derby since 2019??? Wow that was so much fun. I was in my bed squirming begging Jordan Walker to continue to hit nukes. Walker was down to his last swing, and in this format your last swing last until you don’t hit one out, and he proceeded to hit 4 straight bombs to walk off the hometown Kyle Shwarber.
The derby started off slow with home runs becoming rare. I’m blaming it on the format. It’s the only derby format where you are still punished for hitting a homerun. Your swing still gets taken away. So the lack of home runs was evident. Especially because no one could see the magenta ball. 1 person hit it out, Shwarber, in the finals, before Walker did it 3 straight times.
Wilson Contreras was unreal tonight though. So special shoutout. The dude was hammering balls consistently 475+. Every time he took a swing he looked like Ken Griffey Jr.
I knew this would be a very good All Star Week and it’s off to a bang.
