Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland is the home of the Washington Commanders, just outside the nation's capital. The open-air bowl has been reworked several times since it opened, most recently shrinking its upper deck to bring fans closer to the field and sharpen the game-day atmosphere. It's known for burgundy-and-gold tailgates that fill the surrounding lots hours before kickoff. The venue also books major concerts and events given its size and Beltway-area location.
The stadium opened in 1997 as Jack Kent Cooke Stadium, was briefly called Redskins Stadium, and became FedExField from 1999 to 2024, at one point holding the NFL's largest capacity at roughly 91,000 seats. It was renamed Commanders Field and then Northwest Stadium in 2024 under a new naming-rights deal. While it has not hosted a Super Bowl itself, it carries the legacy of the franchise's earlier Super Bowl titles (won at RFK Stadium in the 1980s and early '90s) and has hosted playoff games, the Army-Navy Game, and international soccer friendlies since opening.
